The Gigabyte GTX 660 OC was a nice upgrade for my system and really fit the performance level I need at a pretty good price point. I was actually surprised at how much of an upgrade this was over my old GTX 295. The GTX 295 was a top of the line "SLI on a single card" solution in early 2009 but it pales next to this little GTX 660. At 1650x1080 in Guild Wars 2 (and using the auto detect routine in the game) I was only getting around 22-23 fps with the GTX 295. That was with many of the graphics quality settings in the moderate/medium category. With the GTX 660 OC the autodetect routine in GW2 bumps up virtually all of the settings (textures, visual range, etc.) to their highest values and I'm getting around 50 fps. That a pretty nice bump for moving from a 3 year old "top of the line" card to a current "mid grade" card. It's also going to lower my power bill as the old GTX 295 had a TDP of 289W. The GTX 660 has a TDP of 140W. I could actually add a second one to my system (using SLI) and still use less power than my old GPU.The Gigabyte cooling solution for this card is whisper quiet and also cools things very well. After an extended gaming session, I find the card temps get up to around 55C and fall back to about 40C within a minute of exiting the game. The two fan design doesn't directly vent any of the GPU heat outside of your case, so adequate case ventilation is needed. People working in smaller, cramped cases may want to opt for a different brand that uses a blower-style cooler, but that type of cooling also tends to be louder. As documented by testing at HardOCP, the GTX 660 line of cards is limited in overclocking potential due to some design choices that Nvidia made with this chip (in particular the 140W TDP acts as a "governor" for higher overclocks). That will be true no matter which brand you buy. In addition, the overclocking "cap" that people can achieve and that yields the best performance will largely be the same no matter which GTX 660 you buy. Well... with this model Gigabyte gives you a factory overclocked version that is just barely under what HardOCP found to be their best overclock for consistent performance. In other words, Gigabyte gives you a GTX 660 that is near the upper end of what anyone can achieve with this architecture and they offer it at the cost of a reference clocked version (the OC versions of other brands will cost you more).I give it a thumbs up for people that want a solid GPU upgrade for today's current games but at a price that won't break the bank. After my experience with the GTX 295 (which was a fine card for its day), I think it makes more sense to buy a mid-grade graphics card and maybe upgrade a little sooner than drop the big cash for today's most powerful GPU "flamethrower". The architecture changes over a 2-3 year time frame will make today's $400-500 cards pale next to that generation's $200-250 cards.Edit: At the time I write this, the Amazon description says that you need to have two 6-pin PCI-e power connectors available. That is incorrect and may be the result of some "cut and paste" from the specs of a GTX 660 TI. The Gigabyte GTX 660 OC only has a single 6-pin power connector. The GTX 660 TI models, however, do need two 6-pin power connectors. Such info may be important to someone who is trying to find a GPU that is a good match for their power supply.
