XFX ATI Radeon HD 5850 PCI-Express Video Card
energy efficient processing.
Unrivaled Visuals with DirectX 11 Support
The Radeon 5850 is a graphics powerhouse. With more than two billion transistors and 2.09 TeraFLOPS of processing power, it can muscle through even the most hardware-intensive games. It also uses advanced GDDR5 memory that can keep up with the high-bandwidth demands of today's games. With so much graphic power at its disposal, the card guarantees a smooth, latency-free gaming experience.
The card also boasts superior filtering capabilities. It supports up to 24x super-sample anti-aliasing that works to smooth out jagged edges and eliminate graphical artifacts. And with up to 16x anisotropic filtering, textures appear sharper than ever.
Most importantly, however, the Radeon 5850 gives you access to DirectX 11 (DX11)--the next generation of PC graphics technology. DX11 unlocks brand-new graphical features like tessellation, which allows for greater realism and detail. More and more games rely on DX11, and with the Radeon 5850, you won't be left behind with an inferior graphics card.
ATI Eyefinity for an Immersive, Panoramic View
The Radeon 5850 also features ATI Eyefinity, a radical new technology that allows you to expand your display across up to three monitors. Using Eyefinity, you can achieve a wide, panorama-like display. Since each monitor preserves its native resolution, you'll be able to link your monitors without a decrease in sharpness.
If you're a gamer, the added visual space gives you a real advantage. Shooter fans will have expanded peripheral vision and will react faster to incoming enemies. Real-time strategists will get a commanding view of the map and will be able to execute strategies more effectively. And flight simulators will feel more immersive than ever, placing you directly in the cockpit.
High-Definition Video and Audio
With the Radeon 5850, you'll be able to enjoy all of your HD media with unparalleled crispness and clarity. The card is equipped with ATI Avivo, a new reference technology that speeds up HD image processing. With Avivo, you can expect flawless, smooth video playback, with faster decoding and post-processing than ever. Avivo also enables full HDMI connectivity and support for the latest HD color profiles, so you can watch Blu-ray movies on your computer.
The Radeon 5850 also sports an integrated audio controller that supports HD audio profiles like AC-3, AAC, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD. It features up to 7.1 channel surround audio and delivers a powerful HD audio performance.
Energy Efficient and Quiet
Thanks to ATI's industry-leading power design, you'll also enjoy the ultimate in energy efficiency and quietness while using the Radeon 5850. The card utilizes PowerPlay technology, which dynamically adjusts power use depending on how active the card is. This helps the GPU disperse heat more effectively, ensuring that your card runs safely and stably. It also makes the card quieter, so you can hear your games instead of your computer.
Crossfire Support for Multiple GPU Power
PC gaming is more immersive than ever before, but it is also much more hardware intensive. To keep up with the latest benchmarks, one graphics card sometimes isn't enough. Thankfully, the ATI Radeon 5850 supports Crossfire, which allows you to link two graphics cards together for a greatly increased GPU output. This added graphic power eliminates frame-rate hiccups and slowdowns and improves your gaming experience even more.
The ATI Radeon HD 5850 PCI-Express Video Card is backed by a three-year warranty.

This is a non-reference version of HD 5850. The reference version (HD585AZNFC) has the fan at the end. This one has fan in the middle. The Core voltage control is disabled in this version. I purchased this card from JR through amazon.com and at that time model no. was not mentioned in the title and they were displaying the reference version image for this card. Make sure to check the model no. (HD585XZAFC is non-ref version, HD585AZNFC is ref version) before deciding and not just the image displayed. The ref version usually comes with Dirt2 coupon but this one does not.Performance of this card is excellent. Played NFS Shift at 1920*1080 with max settings and average FPS were 55 (After applying patch 1.02). Dirt2 averages 70 FPS, GRID averages 78, Tombraider Underworld averages 70 at max settings and 1920*1080 resolution.Great value for money. This is the best card for price around 300(as mentioned in "Best Graphics Cards For The Money: May 2010" review at [...]. This card is a little over 10" in length (XFX states it at 9.5") so make sure you have enough space. Two 6 pin power connectors are required from power supply. It comes with double lifetime warranty which gives peace of mind. Make sure to register in 30 days from purchase otherwise the warranty will be reduced to just 1 year.At base voltage and clock this card is at par with its ref version. Performance might suffer at very high clocks since extreme clocks can't be achieved without voltage control. The ref version is a bit expensive also. Overall I am happy with this purchase since I am not into overclocking. This card has enough power to play available games at max settings so overclocking is not needed.
