This video card is a midrange gaming card that has a good price/performance ratio. The HIS version is pretty true to the ATI/AMD reference design with the exception of a cooler that is supposed to be an improvement over reference. The card is very quiet, as I can only barely hear the card over my case and CPU fans when I turn up the fan to 75%. The cooler does a reasonably good job of keeping temperatures down, and in my case it idles around 38 degrees C. Basically, this card is for the sector of the market in which people want to play new games and get good performance, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg. It is important to note that the AMD/ATI card nomenclature has changed with this generation of cards. In the Radeon HD 5XXX series, the 58XX series were the high performance "enthusiast" level cards. This generation, the 68XX series are the mid range cards, and the 69XX series are the high performance cards. Performance wise, this card is on par with the Radeon HD 5830-5850, though it is priced similarly to the Radeon HD 5770 when it launched. The Radeon HD 6850 outperforms the Radeon HD 5770 by 30-50% in most games, as the Radeon HD 5830 did, but this card does have some features that the last generation Radeon HD 5XXX series lacked. Confusing, I know. Overall, this is a great card for the money. It can play most new games on high settings, so long as you keep the Anti-Aliasing turned down.

What you see is what you get, and that may not sound like a lot here but you are mistaken. I have one of these cards right now in a SilverStone FT03 Micro ATX case, and while the card is bigger the the reference it is still small enough for my case.Well the most important part is performance, and this card brings it like no other. I build systems as a hobby and sell them off, and before this one I ran a i72600k with a GTX680 in it. That system scored 9500~ points on 3D mark11, but that was with the CPU at 4.8ghz and gpu +150mhz core and 475mhz memory. This current system is a i5 2500k stock and GTX 660ti stock (slight factory OC) and it scores shy of 9000~ points. Considering the CPU is about $150 and GPU $200 this is a killer performer. Now most of the gamers out there will play with monitors that support resolutions of 1920x1080 0r 1920x1200, and this card will play anything and get you well over 60 FPS or around there with out breaking a sweat on maximum settings. I have tried BF3, Crysis 1, Warhead, 2, and all of the COD games (COD games are not very taxing on the hardware, but still fun to play) overall my experience is the same as with my previous system at a much lesser cost. Now if you end up getting some of those Korean dirt cheap monitors that support resolutions of 2560x1440 you will need more gpu ram and grunt so OCing might be in order, or step it up to a 670 maybe, and there is option 3 which is SLI lol. Also as a single card it is very silent, but I am sure that paring it up with this open style cooler you will be dumping heat on the 2nd card and double so on the rest of the system just a FYI.

first of all, let me state that i am a veteran of computer modding and building. but even then, there were times when i found the online instruction (that's right, the instruction wasn't included, you need to download from arctic's website) lacking in explanation and over simplified.even for an avid computer modder like myself, i took a serious 2+ hours putting this thing together. mostly due to lack of explanation on the manual's part, but also due to the four different types of PCB configurations that's out there for 7950/7970. both 7950 and 7970 have their own reference PCB layout design, and NON-reference design. due to this, VRM layout can vary widely from card to card. my non-reference Sapphire 7950 had two rolls of VRM layout, instead of one roll of the reference design. due to this i had to use different combinations of VRM heatsinks that came in the package, AND cut a few pieces myself to cover all the VRM chips. as VRM cooling is one of the main reason why i upgraded from the stock cooling. it was very vital for me to get it right for the VRM. the memory chips coverage were very straight forward.if you're running your card on stock frequency, this heatsink upgrade is way overkill consider the price tag. however, i run my card at 1100mhz core and 1600mhz memory @1.15vcore. with the stock filmsy cooler that came with the card, i was averaging 70~80c degrees for the core and 80~85c for the VRM. with this cooler installed at the same core/memory frequency i get 50c+ degrees for the core and 60c+ for the VRM. this allowed me tons of headroom to push the card higher. i am now able to run the card 24/7 at 1200mhz Core frequency and 1600mhz memory @1.225 vcore. at full load playing BF3 i average 60c degrees core and 70c degrees for VRM at a constant 84 Fahrenheit indoor ambient temperature, that is VERY impressive consider with the stock cooler at 1200mhz core with 1.225 voltage would put my card in the 90c+ degree arena for the core and 100c for VRM or more. at the same 1200mhz core voltage in Furmark, core temp average at around 65c and VRM stays at a reasonable 80c.i definitely recommend taking the time and install the heatsinks on the VRM. those little guys can get easily get into the 100c+ range. they're suppose to have a max operating temp of up to 120c, but NOT recommended. i do have to state that i didn't use the included thermal glue mixture. i've heard many horror stories of it not holding up, and since i have some spare Arctic Silver Alumina laying around, i just used my own alumina epoxy to install the heatsinks.now my card runs at 1200mhz core and 1600mhz mem with a constant 60c temp compare to the original stock frequency of 800 mhz Core and 1250 mhz memory, that's a 50% overclock!!! and VRM stays cool. what can i say, i am happy. this card should last me for years to come. :)for those of you worried about the card sagging, it does sag a little, but i managed to loop my two PCIe 6pin connectors from under the cooler so it kind of holds it up.bottom line: if you've never installed anything major in your computer i would think twice about getting this product due to the level of difficulty and lack of instruction. but for a moderate~expert user, this will be a fun project consider if you take your time.

This is an amazing graphics card! However, for almost 1,100 USD, it's something you have to deeply consider, unless you're you got cash to spend :o)Right, anyways. I've tested this card on demanding games such as BF3, Metro 2033, Crysis 2, Assassins Creed Revelations, Black Ops, MW3, Mass Effect 3, and Syndicate. With BF3 I get anywhere from 140-180 FPS (max resolution of 2560x1600)Metro 2033 Max Resolution 2560x1600 Highest Graphics, FPS of 70-95 (tested once)Anyways, I've stressed this card multiple times for hours. It doesn't heat up if you're good with fan management in the case. Gameplay is always smooth with this GPU.Pricey, but this card delivers.Design : 5/5Graphics : 5/5Heat : 5/5Installation : 5/5Overall, a great card. Like I said the only downfall of this card is its price.

Running this beastly beauty in a quad-CrossfireX rig with Gigabyte's P67A-UD7. Setting up 5 inexpensive NEC ea231wmi IPS monitors with both native portrait-mode & displayport capability left me but a few color calibration, bezel adjustment & Eyefinity-group creation steps before enjoying breathtaking 11.1 megapixel resolution. Eyefinity has been streamlined in both software and connectivity via AMD's latest cards. Dissimilar the distracting screen-tearing, inactive Crossfire compatability, & nauseating stutter / microstutter / jitter output that permeated the technology's first year has matured to a relatively glitchless & streamlined solution. It's culmination has no better suitor than AMD's own flagship 6990! There's no other card yet engineered capable of rendering 5x1 portrait at uncompromising image quality (nvidia doesn't support any but 3 monitor landscape/portrait). Scaling down to 3x1 landscape or portrait on the 6990, for ya'll Eyefinity types, will not disappoint. I'm talking 8xAA/16xAF with everything topped off in damn near every recent, new, or soon to release game. With my Koolance waterblock, I've climbed up to 1075/1500 (core/clock) without voltage regulators catching fire. When paired with a third or third+fourth 6970, you'll enjoy quad scaling so good you'll have to run multiple API monitors (Fraps, Afterburner, RadeonPro) just to verify that they are, indeed, reporting the correct frames per second. Can't say enough about this great product.

FIRST THINGS FIRST. THIS CARD HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH A 560 TI, WHICH IS A GREAT THING!!!!! KILLS A 560 TIComing from 2 EVGA GTX 465's in SLI this single card solution is right there as far as FPS in my latest games. The SLI setup had a slight edge in that department but in every single other category this card rocks.*A lot more quiet*Less heat generated*Overclocks like a champ!! (Every card varies even if it is technically the same card) with stock voltage and cooling, I have yet to find its "wall" and right now I am running it @ 953/2002/90% on the fan and at 53-58c it doesn't even break a sweat.*Same GPU [GF110] & PCB as the GTX 580 (Just installed the 580 back plate and it looks kill)After seeing the performance and overclocking abilities of the 465's I was excited to see what this "card with an identity crisis" was going to do, and I am more than impressed and happy! If you have the $$$ and don't like to tinker and or mod and benchmark and just want the best out of the box, then get a GTX 580 or 680. I like getting these rare cards as 9 times out of 10 they are a diamond in the rough. With my settings it holds its own next to my dads GTX 570 HD, it stands its ground in performance, out performing it more than half the time.BUY IT, LOVE IT.CANNOT WAIT UNTIL I GET A SECOND FOR SLI:)
