4.0 out of 5 starsBe CAREFUL if you plan on Crossfire...September 7, 2011

Bought two of these with plans on crossfire on an ASUS X58 Sabertooth board. They sure as heck did not fit the way they came... The heat sink on the back of the card adds a quarter inch above where the pcb plugs into the PCI-E slot on the motherboard, and then it's just as big as a reference board on the bottom. I didn't quite have the option to return them with my purchase method, so I had to dremel off half the top card's plastic guard (which has to be left somewhat intact to hold the fan) and filed the fins down on the metal heat sink on the bottom card where the top's fan would be. In other words, I had both cards fully disassembled and put back together before I used them, luckily they work just fine. This is no simple fix, there is a LOT of space where they originally didn't fit. ASUS really should have taken this into mind when designing the standard fan/heat sink assembly on the card. I'll try to throw in a picture of my current setup. As far as performance goes... WOW! These things are incredible in CFX. I previously ran a 295GTX and am noticing huge gains that I wasn't really sure if I'd get. 3dMark Vantage score of P30805 to be exact, (paired with 6gb Corsair RAM at 1800mhz, i7-970 at 3.6ghz) with the cards overclocked to 975/1150mhz EACH! No artifacts or stutters came up, probably could have gone higher if I was willing to push them more. Temps got to about 74 at full load during the test. Incredible at 1080p, maxing out Crysis 2 with the dx11/hi-res patches and Metro 2033 at completely playable frame rates. I am nothing short of amazed by the performance of these cards. *Do keep in mind that if you want to play at any resolutions higher than 1080p, you are definitely better off with a card that has 2GB of VRAM.All in all, I am almost inclined to take another star off for the big design flaw of these cards. Be sure you are willing to gamble with ripping them up in order to fit two into your system... But I can say that the reward of their performance is completely worth it. CFX bridge is included with each card, as well as some junky ASUS overclocking software (I'm just using the Catalyst Overdrive software in the Drivers for now).
