The new SAPPHIRE HD 6970 uses a new GPU architecture from AMD which features dual graphics engines in one chip with 24 SIMD engines and a total of 1536 stream processors with 96 texture units, providing massively parallel computing power for graphics and other accelerated applications. Its core clock speed of 880MHz, together with a dedicated high speed interface to 2GB of GDDR5 memory running at 1375MHz (5.5Gb/s effective) delivers the highest performance in this series. New Tesselation engines bring three times the performance of the previous generation, and new Enhanced Quality AA and new filtering modes bring the highest image quality ever achieved.

PROS: Quiet, sleek design, excellent performance, and free games!CONS: None so far. I could say the price, but I don't mind paying well for quality.THOUGHTS:Wow, I'm not sure where to start (I typically do not write reviews unless I'm extremely please)! I had originally purchased an MSI 6950HD 2GB, and returned it since it was outputting low FPS, behaving strangely in games like Dirt 3, and occasionally crashed with vertical lines. I decide to instead go with this 6970 and I'm confident it was the best possible decision I could have made.First, this card is so quiet it initially scared me. I loaded up Dirt 3 for some testing and the card was absolutely inaudible. As a matter of fact, the fans in my case were louder than the card, and for the first time I could hear my hard drive spin... not even my 460GTX was as quiet as this card.As far as performance, it runs incredibly well in BF3 Beta (the main reason I purchased this card). I got an average of 70FPS (1680x1050 resolution) with all most all of the graphical settings set to High, and rest set to Ultra. With settings fully maxed I had an average of 45FPS; I wouldn't recommend running BF3 on ultra with only a single one of these card. I ran the card with stock settings, so perhaps a little overclock (given the quietness and cool temperatures of the card) may help boost some performance on Ultra settings.Personally, I am a big fan of this card's aesthetics. I do not have a window on the side of my case so for someone that likes to show off the interiors, perhaps it is not as aesthetically pleasing.
